Our mission for Children’s Ministry is:

To guide, nurture, and inspire our precious children to come to know Jesus and His loving plan and place for them in His family.

Sunday Morning Opportunities for Children

Welcome!  We’re glad you’re here.  Children’s Ministries at Chapel by the Lake are designed to provide a variety of options for families to worship, learn and grow in fellowship, through their Sunday morning time.

For families with children of any age, coloring materials, books, and quiet toys are available at a children’s table near the entrance to the sanctuary, as well as the entry to the log chapel.  These are intended for children to use and enjoy.

The Sanctuary services can also be viewed from the seating and screen area of Smith Hall.  Parents with children of any age are welcome to use this space, however, we want children to feel welcome in the sanctuary, even if they need to wiggle a little!

Infants (Under 18 months):

In the back of the sanctuary, rocker seating is specifically available for parents with infants, and a small room near the sanctuary, is a quiet space for parents and babies.  The women’s bathroom at the entrance to the education wing (ed wing) has a changing table and supplies.

Toddlers (18 months-3 years):

The Toddler Room is a place to play and enjoy toys under the supervision of caring adults.  A pager system allows the caregiver to contact parents at any time during a child’s stay.  A bathroom and changing table are available in the toddler room.  The Toddler room is staffed from 8:00-12:30, and is located at the end of the ed wing, rm. 106.

Preschool:  (around 3-5 years):

3 year olds may be appropriate in the Toddler room during any of the services.  During  the 11:15 service, preschool care may also be provided in the preschool room for older 3 and 4 year olds.  Please check in at the Toddler Room.

School Age Children (Kindergarten – Fifth Grade):

Sunday School

Sunday school classes are taught from 10:10-11:00, for children from preschool-5th grade.  Sunday school is in session from September-May, however children can join at any time.

The following classes describe Sunday School age groupings.  (Please note that Middle and High School programs are offered through Youth Ministries.).  Preschool-PreK; K-2nd Grade; 3rd-5th Grade.

Teachers use a variety of materials for instruction, and in general, topics move from Bible stories/characters in the younger years, to larger concepts and more specific topics in the older grades.

Godly Play:

Godly Play is a unique program developed to meets the needs of children to worship and learn in their own ‘service’.  It is offered during the 11:15 service. Children and youth assistants are dismissed part way through the service and escorted with leaders to the Godly Play Worship Room. Here they listed to a Bible story presented with engaging story pieces. All the elements of an adult service are also incorporated in this creative, story based program.  This opportunity is most appropriate for children 5 and older, while 4 year olds may enjoy attending with a parent.

Please check our bulletin on Sundays for weekly announcements with opportunities for children.
