Who is Chapel by the Lake?

Chapel by the Lake is a member of A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO). We are a Christ-centered, Biblically-based, praying congregation located in Juneau, Alaska.

Our Mission: To Follow Jesus, Make Disciples, and Love Our Neighbors

Our Values

We love joining together in worship that is Christ-centered, Spirit-led, and participatory.

We know the Bible gives us God’s truth, His hope, and assures us of God’s love.

We share the Good News of Jesus with everyone, especially children, students, and their families.

We show radical hospitality- come join us!

What We Believe

The Word of God- The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are infallible, written Word of God. Jesus is the incarnate, living Word of God. The Word of God is the unique and only authority of Christian faith.

The Trinity- God is One in substance, revealed to us in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Incarnation- Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man. Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect, sin-free earthly life, was crucified, bodily resurrected, and ascended to heaven to reign with God the Father. Jesus will one day return visibly to earth to judge the living and the dead.

God’s Grace in Christ- God created the world perfect and good; however, sin and death entered creation when humans freely chose to disobey God. Through the atoning work of Jesus Christ, God rescues us from sin and gives us salvation. Jesus Christ is the only and exclusive way to salvation.

A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO)

The mission of ECO is to build flourishing churches
that make disciples of Jesus Christ.

In April 2013, Chapel joined ECO, a Reformed and Presbyterian denomination. ECO formed in January 2012 so congregations and leaders could unite in a covenanted biblical community centered in Jesus, anchored to the Bible’s authority, and committed to the mission of building God’s kingdom.
